feat: #3616587 Add an Upcoming events block display to the events view
Fixes #3616587.
Problem/Motivation
This recipe already reshapes views.view.events — owned by the third-party drupal/events recipe — and contributes a related block display through a config action. What it did not contribute is a small "upcoming events" display, the obvious companion for a homepage or sidebar panel.
Without one, a site template defines it itself. Educare did exactly that, carrying ~300 lines of events-view configuration in its own recipe.yml, unavailable to any other consumer of this recipe.
Proposed resolution
Add a latest block display to the existing views.view.events config action, beside related:
- three upcoming events, no pager
text_card_mediumview mode, already bound tofield_whenso each card carries its date- single column, so it fits a narrow slot
Component ids are the base theme's (vartheme_bs5:), matching the displays this recipe already declares. A vartheme_bs5 site works as shipped; a site template with its own theme repoints them through setViewsComponentStyleTheme.
Testing
Verified on a fresh Varbase 11 install of the Educare site template, which consumes this recipe:
- the display arrives from this recipe and is repointed automatically to
vartheme_bs5_educare:views-view-grid - it renders three real, distinct upcoming events with their dates
- 0 render errors across all 12 site pages
- a prop audit over every Canvas content template — 608 values, 24 templates — reports 0 invalid values
Diff is +306 / −0, purely additive.
