Depends on !19 (merged) (#3622267). This branch is cut from 1.0.x, which still pins the header region to a component version no shipped component declares, so on its own a fresh install answers HTTP 500 on every page (OutOfRangeException: The requested version 1fabce12570a28f0 is not available) and the functional buckets fail with it. Merge !19 (merged) first, or review this branch with !19 (merged) applied. The content in this MR is unaffected by that fix - it touches only config/canvas.page_region.vartheme_bs5_rightup.header.yml, which this branch deliberately leaves alone.

Replaces the Varbase Starter demo content that RightUp inherited with the RightUp design content: the news, podcast and author content, the Canvas pages that present it, the menus that link it, and the copy that describes it.

What changed

  • Content: 33 news articles across six categories (Studios, Architecture, Product, Branding, Process, Culture), 7 podcast episodes, 9 author accounts, 38 images. The articles carry their editorial dates - created, which Exporter drops, is written into the content YAML.
  • Canvas pages (12): Home, the six category landings, Podcasts, the Last Call show page, Newsletter, About Us, Contact Us. Composed from the theme's own components - live-feed, card-impressed, card-text, card-featured, article-teaser, podcast-card, horizontal-text-icon-card, card-slider, subscribe-box - plus the News view block where a listing is data-driven, and the breadcrumb and webform blocks.
  • Menus: Main (six sections + Podcasts), Footer (About Us, Contact, Newsletter, Search), Social media (neutral network home pages). The Varbase Starter links are gone.
  • Removed: the 5 Varbase Starter Canvas pages, their 18 media items and 25 files, and the menu links that pointed at them.
  • News: drupal/varbase_news_base is required, and the News view plus its 19 Canvas content templates are repointed at the default theme.
  • Copy: the 10 shipped Canvas patterns and the Hero Slide and Card Hero component defaults carry RightUp copy instead of Varbase marketing copy; the two patterns that linked to the removed /features page now link to /about-us.
  • Permissions: access user profiles is granted to anonymous and authenticated, because every byline links to its author page.
  • The shipped author accounts carry no password hash and no roles.
  • Tests: the functional suite is pointed at the new content - the header and footer steps (RightUp menus, credit line and social profiles), 01-00 warm-up, 01-06 health checks, 06-02 (now news), 08-01 homepage, 09-05 hero slider (the homepage no longer carries a carousel, so it is proven by building one in the Canvas editor), 09-06 pattern markers, 09-07, 05-02, 15-02, 15-03, the main nav selector (it matched the hidden offcanvas nav first), and 15 new words in .cspell.json.

Verification

Fresh ddev drush si -y ../recipes/rightup on a Drupal CMS 2.1.4 host (core 11.4.6, Canvas 1.11.0), run six times during development and green on the last run:

Browser checks against the Figma frames fixed two real defects: headings in the dark sections rendered as dark links on black (the card now carries the link and the heading stays white), and the homepage had no h1 (the lead story is now h1).

  • Author pages have no role/bio fields yet, so they do not match the Author frame.
  • The search results page is not styled to the Search frame.
  • No mobile layouts: deliberately out of scope for now.
