fix: #3616545 List real events and news in the home page Stories section
Fixes #3616545.
Problem/Motivation
The home page's "How Our Students Are Thriving" section was fifteen hand-placed static components. A fresh install showed the same headline three times in the left column and twice on the right — ten occurrences of one title, zero Views blocks on the page — and nothing followed what the site actually publishes.
Proposed resolution
views.view.eventsgainsdisplay.latest— three upcoming events, no pager, single column, rendering the dated card view mode already bound tofield_when.views.view.newsgainsdisplay.featured— two latest posts infeatured_card_medium.- The Home page tree drops the fifteen static components and places the two blocks (151 → 138 components), three against two so the columns hold the same height.
Both displays follow the all/latest/related naming the news view already uses, and are added through the same views.view.* config actions the recipe already applies.
Testing
Built and verified on a fresh Varbase 11 install of the current 1.0.x with the alpha2 release candidates, in a real browser:
- 3 real upcoming events left, 2 real news posts right — all distinct titles
- columns 378px / 381px
- 0 duplicate titles, 0 render errors, page 200
- no "Showing 1-4 of 4" result summary (the display clears the inherited header)
The content file was regenerated with Drupal's own Yaml::encode() rather than an external YAML tool, so the diff carries only the real change: 15 removed static SDCs, 2 added Views blocks, plus the recipe's two new displays (+380 lines, purely additive).
