<td>Hi! I haven't been in any of these meetings, but I've been doing a little bit of Discover Drupal mentoring, so I'm popping in today :meow-wave-peek:Alison here, from Rochester, NY -- I recently learned that an interrobang is actually ‽ with the two symbols on top of each other, not :interrobang: as I thought, via standard emoji??(Probably both are "correct" as much as anything is, but still, it interested me :cat_smile-grin: )</td>

<table>
<tr>
<td>Von R. Eaton</td>
<td>yep resolved! you should have everything you need from me.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>That last one should be resolved based on the last meeting notes, threads.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Chris Darke</td>
<td>@shaal you got bandwidth to do this? I do need to go over any updates for the 1TW presentation too</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Von R. Eaton</td>
<td>if anything last minute comes up, feel free to let me know and i’ll do my best to accommodate!</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Elli Ludwigson</td>
<td>hm, I will be digging around for links and such to promote in the next couple weeks on tweeter. Any specifics/links folks want to toss my way are appreciated. Usually it’ssign up to mentorlearn about contributionjoin the contribution siteorientation boftriage bofgeneral contribmentored contribfirst time workshop</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>Todo: call and see about reserving popsicle cart for 17:00-17:30 PDT on Thursday.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Matthew Ramir</td>
<td>Are we trying to use the opensocial site for the things @ekl1773 is looking for? and maybe a mix of that with d.o stuff?</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Elli Ludwigson</td>
<td>that’s my general assumption :slightly_smiling_face: combination of schedule links and opensocial links. a slack link to this channel. the only thing I’m particularly unsure of is last minute mentor signups with the new volunteer signup process, so I’ll look closer at that but I assume it’s clear on the event site.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>Opensocial for mentor events, but contribution guide should be mainly d.o</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Von R. Eaton</td>
<td>for last minute mentor sign-ups that happen onsite, the only thing that needs to be communicated to them is that they will not qualify for a free ticket since they didn’t sign up ahead of time and help plan for mentoring. also, this just for leads, but since y’all are owning giving contribution credit for drupalcon portland you would just need to ensure that last minute sign-ups get contribution credit. i’m sure you all will, since you’re practiced i just need to say it since i’m responsible for drupalcon portland contributor credit otherwise!</td>
</tr>

<h2>1️⃣ 2️⃣ 1️⃣ Write up covid safety guidelines for contribution to print out (edited) </h2>
<table>
<tr>
<td>Rachel Lawson</td>
<td>Is this something I can help with? @vonreyes - you give me the basics, I’ll mock something up</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>That would be great if you have time.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Von R. Eaton</td>
<td>we have the overall COVID 19 safety policy on the website and we’ll have signage posted throughout the conference. i think this was something internal that mentors wanted to create to establish specific norms in the mentored contribution space to supplement our overall conference policy. i believe it was @Chris Darke? but i could be mistaken.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Rachel Lawson</td>
<td>If people stick details here, I’ll make something nice.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Chris Darke</td>
<td>Hmmm I don't particularly remember offering to do that but I am sure I had some opinion! :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>Prefer Slack channel for asking questions at your table.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Rachel Lawson</td>
<td>Need to try out my new ipad :wink:</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Elli Ludwigson</td>
<td>Creating a standard protocol for screensharing to replace hanging over someone’s shoulder? Just so the question of “what platform” is simplified.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>@vonreyes is there a policy about eating/drinking spaces and separating contribution table from eating/drinking space?</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>That would be a good reminder.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Von R. Eaton</td>
<td>you’re allowed to unmask to eat and drink in the lunch areas. you can take your mask down briefly to eat or drink in other areas of the conference, but this is more of a pull down, sip/bite, put back on situation. we are asking people to self-regulate and be mindful of vulnerable people in the room. there should be enough space that you can create a designated “snacking” table away from others if you wanted to.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>+1 to @ekl1773's suggestion. We don't have a general contrib group on the contrib platform, but maybe we should do so and add an event and ask people to use a room / breakout room to screenshare</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Matthew Ramir</td>
<td>Speaking of masks, has anyone tried out the clear masks that allow for lip reading? Not sure how much face to face discussions will happen but thatr could be a nice this to have for mentors (edited)</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Dan Gurin</td>
<td>How about slack call as the standard protocol? Has the additional benefit of getting people on Slack that might not already be.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Chris Darke</td>
<td>A tonne of Slack calls might eat into the conference Center bandwidth, but certainly having some Slack group convos</td>
</tr>

<h2>3️⃣ 2️⃣ Tasks that need to be done before the event:</h2>
<table>
<tr>
<td>Rachel Lawson</td>
<td>we have a good indication based on what we are doing for NA, of course</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>Who is the Kuoni contact for the event?</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>todo: determine what the contribution event date/times will be.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>todo: contact the gda to make sure the eu mentor box makes it to Prague (and back).</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>@rachel_norfolk , do you have answers to these questions as an advisory committee member?</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Cecilia Levy</td>
<td>@mradcliffe Kuoni contact is always me :see_no_evil: the easiest is always to get in touch by email since all my team have access to the shared mailbox <a href="mailto:drupal@kuonitumlare.com">drupal@kuonitumlare.com</a> but otherwise I'm always happy to be contacted here. Also we're lucky to have @rachel_norfolk as Advisory board member who can totally be the link between you and me :)</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Cecilia Levy</td>
<td>Regarding the contribution events dates and time I can already tell you that we're keeping the « old » way which is: general contribution everyday and all day long from Tuesday to Thursday in a specific room of the venue contribution day on Friday from about 9-18h with first time contribution workshop, mentored contribution and general contribution happening during this day reg things like issue triage, mentors orientations, if needed first time workshop: none has been decided and can be discussed asap with you!</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Cecilia Levy</td>
<td>Also in the to do: determine if you'd like a stand and who will be staffing it ;)</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Rachel Lawson</td>
<td>sorry, was offline after meeting. Yes, Cecilia is generally available and the ideal contact but, of course, I’m happy to help, too</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Rachel Lawson</td>
<td>It makes me very, very happy to have a full mentored contribution day on the programme. Whilst I think short bursts are good virtually, in person is a different matter.</td>
</tr>
</table>
<h2>4️⃣ Discover Drupal Mentors. Let’s check in.</h2>
<table>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>I wasn't able to attend office hours this Tuesday.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Rachel Lawson</td>
<td>Is there a new intake of students soon?</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>I'm not sure, but the program completes at DrupalCon for this set of students.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>AmyJune Hineline (volkswagenchick)</td>
<td>I wasn’t able to attend either, but @alison was there.I have been giving them tasks in SLack hoping that they finish them week to week (edited)</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>AmyJune Hineline (volkswagenchick)</td>
<td>Learning a lot about what NOT to do… So I feel like we need to have a meeting when we get a new batch of mentors in…A lot of the mentors who originally signed up didn’t participate which I found a little disheartening. But, it is a volunteer role, so it is what it is.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>From a contribution perspective, I think the documentation tasks were too large/new in scope. It's hard for me to review, especially contrib.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td>It might be nice to pick a roadmap item for Drupal 10.1.0 and work on 1 code (issue fork, manual test, unit tests, UX contribution) issue. Although I do think there is a very nice benefit of working in contrib for those who are going to work on Drupal sites - learning to look for issues and contribute back to a contrib module when finding a bug or feature in that module.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Alison</td>
<td>Maybe not the point right now, but I can't not say: AmyJune has done an outstanding job preparing/organizing tasks for the students to work on.I actually thought that using contributor.md as a gateway to learning how to contribute was a great idea, because it's minimally code intensive, so we/they can focus solely on the contribution process?But, I think what matters is whether or not the students feel like they've gotten a decent understanding of how to contribute -- if not, then perhaps we should do something different next time.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Alison</td>
<td>A great thing about this last segment of the program purely from my point of view as a mentor, is that the tasks were pretty clear/tangible -- I popped in once in a while before the last couple months, but there wasn't much activity on Slack, and I don't think I ever actually helped anyone before the contribution segment of the program? -- I'm sure this is in large part due to how I did/didn't engage during earlier segments of the program, but, just sharing how it went for me!AND again, what matters is how it worked out for the students, so please take my comments with many grains of salt :grin:</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Alison</td>
<td>Overall, I think the people running the program provided a lot of materials and support for getting us mentors going early on, it just didn't end up that there was much to do (the way it went for me, anyway!!) until recently -- and the increase in "stuff to do" (the way it has felt for me!!) seems to be due to everything AmyJune has done to put together tasks and organize regular meetings with agendas, etc. (edited)</td>
</tr>
</table>
<h2>5️⃣ Open floor/other topics</h2>
<table>
<tr>
<td>AmyJune Hineline (volkswagenchick)</td>
<td>I have a new role at Opensource.com and we are looking for articles on how open culture, topics including being mentoring, tools, lowering barriers to entry, etc.I do not have the bandwidth to write them myself, but can help. Let me know if you’re interested</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>mradcliffe</td>
<td><a href="https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C4K9UPX9P/p1647930923640439">https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C4K9UPX9P/p1647930923640439</a> (from a week or so ago in case the survey is still open)</td>
