<p>While testing this module locally I became frustrated when some media links would download the media's file and others would direct me to the media entity's canonical page. After stepping through DisplayController.php I noticed that it checks to see if the file exists. Since I'm using Stage File Proxy, the file does not exist until it is requested! Ah-ha!</p>

<h4 id="summary-steps-reproduce">Steps to reproduce</h4>
<p>In a local environment using Stage File Proxy, enable this module and click a media link that hasn't downloaded it's referenced file to the local filesystem. You should be directed to the canonical `/media/mid` page instead of to the intended aliased file.</p>
<p>If you then download the media item's file, Stage File Proxy will download it to the local filesystem, and subsequent requests the the media item's aliased url will display the file.</p>
<h3 id="summary-proposed-resolution">Proposed resolution</h3>
<p>I'm not sure what the best path forwards is for this. <a href="https://architecture.lullabot.com/adr/20210729-stage-file-proxy/">Lullabot wrote an ADR for Stage File Proxy</a> that mentions "custom code and update hooks may assume that a file is on disk, and not call the right methods to ensure that Stage File Proxy has a chance to download the image first."</p>
