Since Drupalcon DC there has been talk of wanting a drupal site for designer/themers. The current sites like api.d.o, cvs.d.o, and the testing framework are all developer centric. At this past Boston Drupalcamp focused on design and theming the issue came up again from some separate groups. This issue is a request for it.

I've written up a rough outline (wiki page) that can be found at http://groups.drupal.org/node/23307 (the initial version is pasted below). This outline is rough and needs refinement.

On a related note, during Jay Batson keynote at the Boston drupalcamp he volunteered Acquia to host such a site (http://design.acquia.com). I won't get into the arguments surrounding this. It's more of a 'let's put all the cards on the table' type of thing.

------------
This is a 'living document'. Please feel free to edit/change/add to it.

Note: Some of the things listed here are already on drupal.org. Most of the time they are sections of the handbook. Here we want them to be called out as separate parts of the info architecture and made more feature rich.

Showcase

Most of the designs and themes generated cannot be contributed back to the drupal community. The contain branding for clients that cannot be diluted. A showcase would highlight drupal sites, the designer, the themer(s), people who wrote cool JavaScript for theme, etc. The goal is not to just showcase the site but give credit to the people who created it.

Snippets

Themers tend to keep and reuse snippets of code/css/other stuff. A place where they can share then (with syntax highlighting), describe them, comment on them, rate them, etc.

Theme Uploader

Themers/Designers don't tend to use CVS. Version Control Systems are great (and themes should be in them). We need a tool to lower the barrier to entry to contribute a theme. A web based tool to contribute theme but uploading a zip or something like that.

Tutorials

I think tutorials is pretty self descriptive. A place where they can be and be rated, commented on, etc.

Drupal Development Dashboard

We want and need more designers and developers to be involved in drupal development. A dashboard where they can see the issues relevant to them, where they can get to quick tutorials and information on how they can give back (in words they can understand).
