<td>Hi Everyone! Welcome to the Distribution Modernization Initiative meeting on Mar 28, 2023</td>
</tr>

<h2>1️⃣ Do you have any topics to propose for the meeting today? Feel free to propose them in this thread, and then I will give them their own unique threads for discussion. Conversation moving slow? Go ahead and open your own thread in the next numeric order.</h2>
<table>
<tr>
<td>bircher</td>
<td>I am not sure it needs to be a topic, but I think it would be good to have some issue on drupal.org where pain points with distribution maintenance are curated. I feel like a lot of discussion still revolves around complaining and it would be great if we could then "measure" how certain solutions address some of the problems</td>
</tr>
</table>
<h2>2️⃣ Does the recipes initiative have DrupalCon plans? Specific goals for contribution day?</h2>
<table>
<tr>
<td>bsnodgrass (he/him)</td>
<td>I plan on being there and contributing as I can. We had a short conversation about it and have a copy of the slide deck from the last Con, however no plan for any update/presentation has been formalized as yet.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>thejimbirch</td>
<td>I still have it on my things to do to meet with Alex Pott and Tim Lehnen to get notes to work on the presentation. (edited)</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>bsnodgrass (he/him)</td>
<td>I am ready and willing to help… if you do meet with them I can try to join in</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>bsnodgrass (he/him)</td>
<td>I did have one of my guys start to look at doing some hands on… but he did not get far. I haven’t been able to pick it up again. I’ve contacted a couple distribution maintainers so get their perspective. It would be great to get someone to elaborate on how they approached using the work that has been done so far.</td>
</tr>
</table>
<h2>3️⃣ What are the pain points of maintaining distributions, installation profiles, or other site starters?</h2>

<td>@eclipsegc Here you go -- another option.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>eclipsegc</td>
<td>Oh ok</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>eclipsegc</td>
<td>I’ll see what I can do.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>eclipsegc</td>
<td>Thx</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>dww</td>
<td>I'm still in favor of you writing all your thoughts into a gdoc, then having someone copy them into that meta, or whatever you prefer). Would rather not have to sort through another monster Slack thread about it :joy:</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>eclipsegc</td>
<td>Agreed. That’s the better solution imo too.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>bircher</td>
<td>Yes I think that meta needs to be curated every once in a while to keep the issue summary up to date. I remember another issue at the start of CMI2 that had many people weighing in on things and I had the impression that some of the comments were more support questions and others were just "fix it" or "it doesn't work" but not actionable items.</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>bircher</td>
<td>But I don't have "modern" experience with maintaining a distribution so it is difficult for me to know what exactly makes maintaining one difficult, and what one would want to be able to do in order to make it a breeze. I have some ideas for solutions and i can help implement them or better ideas.. but ultimately I don't know if they deliver on the promise to make things better.</td>

<td>ok, took me a bit, but here’s a basic write up of my concerns/position on what we should be doing for distributions in D11: <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EwdEowlBnNuKZAo9jbBh0FYwxvAn2hoMRB34sD-cQus/edit?usp=sharing">https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EwdEowlBnNuKZAo9jbBh0FYwxvAn2hoMRB34sD-cQus/edit?usp=sharing</a></td>
