I know that it is not only a drupal.org question, but I'd start here to share the idea of a "thanksgiving" feature.

We all know the project issue queue as the primary place to go when something goes wrong in core or a in a contributed project. But currently there is no specific place to say thanks to the people that worked on it.

The act of say thank you goes beyond of being polite, when felt, it promotes personal links between people in a community, helping to make it more united and stronger.

So the proposal is to add such support to drupal.org. At a first look it could work as a the existing "star" system does, that is, similar to a flag, but extended with optional comments, maybe a new type of issue, where the "thanksgiver" could answer some predefined questions like:

How has this project helped you?

How are you using it?

What also would you useful around this project?

Would you recommend any other project related to this one?

This additional information would work as a feedback, providing some usage ideas for other users and would be useful for maintainers to identify potentional new features or improvements.

UI draft:
