Draft Drupal CMS 2.0.0 release notes
>>> [!note] Migrated issue Reported by: [phenaproxima](https://www.drupal.org/user/205645) >>>
Drupal CMS 2.0.0 is expected by the end of January 2026, and we probably want some release notes.

A few things I think we should cover:

The commands to get spun up (these are actually going to be the same as with Drupal CMS 1.x, but we should reiterate them anyway).

The main things that are included:

Deep and strong Canvas integration

Site templates as a concept, with special mention of Byte as the first real-world site template, the Mercury design system, the curated/recommended add-ons, and the site:export tool to create site templates

The Drupical events block and a block listing a11y issues have been added to the dashboard

Media File Delete, View Password, Media Library Bulk Upload, and Navigation Extra Tools

The Drupal CMS Media recipe, which includes document and local video media types in addition to the ones we already had

Any neat AI things that were added by the AI initiative -- AI Dashboard, Canvas AI, the Amazee.io provider

Various bug fixes

How, if you are on Drupal CMS 1.x, do you get to Drupal CMS 2.x? People WILL ask this question. We need to be super clear that there's no update path, and that the closest you can get to one is installing Canvas and a design system, and using those to build pages. (And if you don't want Canvas, but do want those sweet new modules, that you should just install them like any other module). This is the time, I think, to really solidify that Drupal CMS is a starting point and not a product that updates you.
