You cannot do this in the same minor version, that would constitute a backwards compatibility break.</p> <p>Also, from reading that issue, it's just <em>assumed</em> that the function isn't needed because d.o doesn't use it. This is a public project and other sites, like <a href="http://drupal-bootstrap.org">http://drupal-bootstrap.org</a>, DO use it (to provide those nifty little count badges in the sidebar!</p>
