Also Azure <a href="https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/foundry/openai/how-to/responses?tabs=rest">has</a> it.</p> <p>Not being an expert on what's under the hood of the API, I noticed that the messaging format is different, and so is the endpoint url scheme - at least in my case. Some existing implementations such as the openai-php library assume the url scheme understandably being like it is in the OpenAI <a href="https://developers.openai.com/api/reference/resources/responses">documentation</a>, whereas I received an Azure endpoint url of the form <code>/{orgname}/openai/responses/gpt-5.1-{site id}</code>. Obviously, this means that we need to continue using custom client the same way than in some original usages of this provider.</p> <p>There should be support for Responses API coming from the upstream code (<code>OpenAiBasedProviderClientBase</code> of the AI core), but it most likely doesn't help to solve the problem above. However, this makes <span class="drupalorg-gitlab-issue-link drupalorg-gitlab-link-wrapper"><a href="https://git.drupalcode.org/project/ai_provider_azure/-/work_items/3552969" class="drupalorg-gitlab-link">https://git.drupalcode.org/project/ai_provider_azure/-/work_items/3552969</a></span> a blocker for this.</p> <p>Also noting that the API I tried this against, required the "model name" (the custom <code>gpt-5.1-{site id}</code> in my case) being stated in the message payload, which is not possible with the current code that expects the model ID to not contain dot characters.
