Drupal AI UX meeting 7 July 2026
## Meeting Overview
**Date:** Monday, July 6, 2026 **Attendees:** Aidan, Marcus, Ángela, Vidit
### Canvas build-state UI (lock and indicator)
* Lock before the agent's first tool call, then unlock via the polling service if that call is not add or delete
* A new Lock marker tool the agent calls in its first loop drives long-running builds; the sidebar stays unlocked
* Per-component glow with a scrim over the rest, an optional follow-along auto-scroll, and plan mode rendering gray skeleton boxes
### Dev environment and spec workflow
* one_line_installer sets up Claude Code plus Vercel agent-browser inside DDEV
* No shared spec-tooling standard yet across the initiative (Beads, OpenSpec, Superpowers); the team wants to pick one
* Idea floated: a Jacob Nielsen bot as a UX best-practices critic
### Module reviews: AI Metering and Annotation
* Ángela reviews both this week in Figma, framed as an AI Initiative audit of modules under consideration
* Metering: an optional running token and cost meter on the chat
* Annotation: field-level guidance for AI agents; push it toward config; needs clear role-based editing
### Magoo Component UI (FYI)
* Experiment: can an agent pick and reuse the right component instead of writing boilerplate
* Extracts to React, Vue, SDC, Canvas, or Hugo; pitched as developer-facing marketing for Drupal
## Decisions
* Canvas is one agent now, and the central area is called the viewport
* Frame the metering and annotation review as an initiative audit; push Annotation toward config
* UX team is planning to pick one of the "specs" systems (Beads, Openspec, SuperPowers)
## Questions
* Which spec-based workflow should the UX team standardize on
## Next Steps
* **Aidan:** Set up Canvas via one_line_installer, start the build-state lock work, update the draft ticket
* **Aidan:** Re-send the Thursday invite to Ángela and Emma, and open the AI Initiative audit issue
* **Ángela:** Review AI Metering and Annotation in Figma and bring findings Thursday
* **Marcus:** Have Nick extend Annotation to config, and ask Kristen to review it against CCC
