The system serves as a living reference implementation — always reflecting the current state of AI feature development — and provides a foundation for hosting-specific demo experiences built on top of it.

Architecture

The Demo System is maintained as a standalone project in GitLab with the following branch structure:

main
: Contains the assembled AI functionality as developed in the Product Development Sprints. This is the canonical reference and is publicly accessible.

Hoster branches
: Branched off main, these contain hosting-platform-specific adjustments to models, configurations, and capabilities. Initial target platforms include Amazee.io, Dropsolid, Pantheon, and Acquia Cloud. Each platform may require different AI model configurations or feature toggles to reflect their specific capabilities.

demo
: A dedicated branch for local development, allowing contributors and partners to spin up the full demo experience using DDEV or a similar local development tool.

Access Model

Access to this repository is restricted to Drupal AI Partners (Makers). This applies to the demo setup itself — the configuration, hosting-specific customizations, and the work of assembling the AI features into a cohesive demo experience.

All underlying source code and AI functionality developed during the Product Development Sprints remains publicly available as before. What is restricted is not the software itself, but the setup that makes it work together as a demo, and the hoster-specific adaptations built on top of it. Makers can collaborate across all branches and share access to the DDEV-based local demo setup.

Out of Scope

The display of launch buttons or embedded demo widgets on Drupal.org is explicitly out of scope for this issue. However, the setup created here can serve as the technical foundation for existing or future demo experiences published on Drupal.org.

Goals for the First Iteration

Technical foundation: Establish the GitLab project structure, define branching conventions, and document the contribution workflow for both the main branch and hoster-specific branches.

Team formation: Bring together a team of Drupal AI Partners responsible for managing and maintaining the demo experiences over time.

First POC: If capacity allows, produce a first proof-of-concept demo experience — either via the DDEV-based demo branch or one hosting-specific branch — demonstrating end-to-end functionality of a curated set of AI features.

AI usage (if applicable)

[x] AI Assisted Issue
This issue was generated with AI assistance, but was reviewed and refined by the creator.

[ ] AI Assisted Code
This code was mainly generated by a human, with AI autocompleting or parts AI generated, but under full human supervision.

[ ] AI Generated Code
This code was mainly generated by an AI with human guidance, and reviewed, tested, and refined by a human.

[ ] Vibe Coded
This code was generated by an AI and has only been functionally tested.
