AI Search is now a separate project (e.g. drupal/ai_search) with its own repository and lifecycle. This change affects where search-related capabilities live, how they are included via Composer, and how site builders and developers install or upgrade search features.</p> <p>To ensure clarity around the removal of AI Search from the AI core project and to support smooth upgrades, a change record should be created documenting what moved, why the change was made, and how to adapt existing sites and custom code.</p> <p>The change record should be created using the AI project change notice form at <a href="https://www.drupal.org/node/add/changenotice?field_project=ai">https://www.drupal.org/node/add/changenotice?field_project=ai</a> and linked back to the original issue.</p> <h3 id="summary-proposed-resolution">Proposed resolution</h3> <ul> <li>Create a change record describing the extraction of AI Search from the AI project, based on the discussion in <span class="drupalorg-gitlab-issue-link project-issue-status-info project-issue-status-7"><a href="https://www.drupal.org/project/ai/issues/3552884" title="Status: Closed (fixed)">#3552884: Move out AI Search</a></span>.</li> <li>Document that AI Search now lives in its own project and include version/dependency guidance (Composer require drupal/ai_search, etc.) for existing AI users.</li> <li>Describe the impact on upgrade paths (module installs, configuration, and any composer changes) for sites that previously relied on AI Search as part of the AI module.</li> <li>Add a reference to the created change record back to <span class="drupalorg-gitlab-issue-link project-issue-status-info project-issue-status-7"><a href="https://www.drupal.org/project/ai/issues/3552884" title="Status: Closed (fixed)">#3552884: Move out AI Search</a></span>.</li> </ul> <p>- <strong>This issue was created with the help of AI</strong></p>
